SHIRLEY \ 'S BAVARIAN Beef Stew

This is an old recipe of Iowa

2 pounds stewing beef, cut into cubic
2 medium onions, sliced
3 tablespoons butter
1 1 / 2 cups water
2 v. Salt tea
1 / chile 2 v. black tea
1 bay leaf
1 1 / Cumin seeds 2 tablespoons of Tea
Vinegar 1 / 4 cup
1 red cabbage severed head quartered average
1 / 2 cup gingersnaps
1 / 2 cup hot water

Heat shortening in a pressure cooker, brown the meat and onions. Add salt 1 1 / 2 cups water, salt, pepper, bay leaf and caraway seeds. Cover and cook at 10 pounds pressure for 15 minutes. Cool and add the vinegar and place cabbage wedges on top of meat. Cover and cook at 15 pounds pressure for 5 minutes. Meanwhile, soak the biscuits ginger in hot water. Remove the cabbage and meat on a hot plate. Add ginger liquid and boil, stirring to form a smooth sauce.

SOUR CREAM Devil \ 'S Food Cake

This recipe is an old cookbook Church of Christ. I have no idea of the city or state. The recipe was submitted by Mr. H. Marshall.

1 / 2 cup cocoa powder – Fill with boiling water to make 1 cup
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon tablespoons butter pork or lard
1 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon Soda
1 teaspoon powdered mass
2 cups flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix cocoa and boiling water and set aside. Mix remaining ingredients, then add cocoa and water. Mix well, pour into 9×13 inch greased and floured and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until done.
